Genres are different types of entertainment which are categorised by the way they are seen as entertaining to their audience whether it may be music, films or games.
Steampunk
Steampunk normally consists of features like steam powered machinery, retro futuristic inventions, particularly based in an alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American 'Wild West'.

Steampunk originated with science fiction author K. W. Jeter as he searched for a term which accurately described his work. However genre later gained attention through the works of William Gibson and Bruce Sterling with their book 'The Difference Engine'
